Autocorrect
iGo can automatically fix some common Vietnamese spelling mistakes the moment you finish typing a word, without you having to correct it by hand.
Autocorrect
Autocorrect while typing
- What it is
- iGo has a built-in list of common Vietnamese spelling mistakes (e.g. mistyped initial or final sounds) — turn this on so iGo fixes them automatically the moment you finish typing such a word.
- What you get / when to use it
- Reduces how often you need to go back and fix spelling while typing quickly. If you want to keep exactly what you typed (even if it's misspelled), turn this option off.
- Default
- OFF.
- Note
- Only fixes mistakes on its known list — it doesn't fix every spelling mistake, and it never touches words you typed correctly.
Update dictionary now (button)
- What it is
- A button to immediately download the latest list of common spelling mistakes, instead of waiting for iGo's periodic auto-update.
- What you get / when to use it
- Press this when you want to make sure you're using the latest version — for example, right after hearing new words were added.
- Note
- Requires an internet connection to download.
Autocorrect consonant rules (c/k, g/gh, ng/ngh)
- What it is
- Vietnamese has a fixed rule for these three initial sounds depending on the letter that follows: before i/y/e/ê they're written k, gh, ngh (e.g. "kể", "ghi", "nghe"); otherwise they're written c, g, ng (e.g. "cá", "ga", "ngon").
- What you get / when to use it
- Turn this on so iGo automatically fixes it if you happen to type against this rule — for example, typing "kả" auto-corrects to "cả", typing "nge" auto-corrects to "nghe".
- Default
- OFF.
- Note
- Only applies this fixed spelling rule — it's not a word list, so it works with any new word, including proper names.
